Move Your Body and Exercise

When you hear the word "exercise," do you feel positive or negative about it? Some people really love exercise and the mere mention of it brings a smile to their face. Others think of exercise as unpleasant and undesirable. If you're in the second camp, it may be because you have not found exercise that resonates with you yet. Consider exploring some less common types of exercise, such as gardening, dancing, or roller skating. As long as you move your body, that is what counts. This blog will provide more insights into exercise, and we encourage you to read it to expand your knowledge.

Yoga Options For An Active Family

People often attend yoga classes on their own or meet up with friends at the studio, but it can also be healthy and enjoyable to occasionally pursue yoga with your family. If your children enjoy trying new things and you're constantly looking for different ways to be active, yoga can be something to pursue. While you can certainly just book a class at a studio in your community, there are some other options that can be more unique. Here are three yoga options that you may wish to check out as a family.

Outdoor Yoga

A lot of local yoga studios hold occasional outdoor classes, and this can be a fun activity to participate in with children. Outdoor yoga classes are enjoyable because there's fresh air, people have more open space around them, and they occasionally take place in unique venues. Look online to see if there are any outdoor yoga classes scheduled in your community, and then find one that is suitable for beginners. You'll find that a lot of these classes take place at parks, but some even take place on or near the beach. An active family might enjoy a beach yoga class, followed by a swim.

Open House

If your family is budget minded but always eager to pursue new things, you'll want to find a yoga class opportunity that offers the best bang for your buck. One option to consider is looking for an open house at a yoga studio. Studios often have these events several times a year to raise exposure in the community. Instead of paying to attend a class, you can attend a class for free — or, in some cases, for a significant discount. This can make for an affordable activity that gets your family moving for an hour or so.

In-Home

Many yoga teachers work in studios, but there are also some that will travel to their clients' locations. If you're looking to surprise your kids, you might wish to connect with a local teacher and have them offer an in-home yoga class for you. You can do so in your living room or basement, and you may even wish to consider using your backyard. If you have a cottage and are always looking for unique activities for your cottage visits, consider looking for a yoga teacher who works in that area. Look online to learn about yoga as a fun family activity.
